My work explores a range of ideas using characters from mythology and literary sources. Most of my ceramic work is thrown on an electric or occassionally a kickwheel followed by carving or painting and fired at high temperatures. For functional ware I will often use multiple glazes combining a range of surfaces and techniques including brushwork painted into the glaze before firing. Much of my work is informed by years of close study of painting and ceramic traditions from around the world. I frequently approach each project as a journey of exploration in which I get to delve into the world of wonderful ideas, narratives, techniques and conventions of traditions that I have been fortunate have access to study over many years.
