stoneware vase thrown and carved with multiple glazes
This vase was made during the lockdown with a combination of a rich black stoneware clay combined with a porcelain body. The work was carved at leatherhard stage and then glazed with a range of tenmoku and tin based glaze to form a loose decoration, forming a ‘skin’ over the surface of the carved decoration and revealing the high fired bisque at the base. Part of a group that was thrown for the purpose of working with a variety of carving process.
